Continue reading »]]> Colt is known for making quality AR-15′s so when I was in the market I was told its the Rifle I wanted.  I wasn’t disappointed at all.  Not that I have shot many AF-15′s but from what I have seen of Bushmasters I think I am pretty luck to own a Colt AR-15.  In over 3000 rounds still have yet to have a single Jam or miss-fire.

After Buying my AR-15 it didn’t take long before I realized how many after market parts I could put onto my AR-15.  I  found Amazon.com to be a gret source o AR-15 Parts and being a Prime member it allows me to get the parts in 2 days.  Here are some of the parts I have purchased

Continue reading »]]> It’s close to the New Year and time for some New Years Resolutions.  Mine is to get back into shape and start skiing and scuba diving again.  Work seems to consume so much of my time its sometimes hard to find time to make it to the gym.  So for this year I decided to bring the Gym to me.  I setup a small Gym which has BowFlex SelectTech weights and Adjustable bench and to get my cardio in I just had the Nordic Track X9i installed in my Gym.

I ordered the X9i at the end of November but it took forever to get to me because the first on got lost in shipping.  I must say I was not impressed with customer service when I called them.  It sure seemed like I was inconveniencing them by making them track a shipment which appeared to be lost in shipping.  Finally they realized it was lost and shipped out another one and gave me $100 off.  I paid for inhouse delivery which was a good deal in my opinion for just $150 more they installed and removed all packing material.  It comes on a large wooden pallet so just to have that taken away was worth it.

Today was my first day actually using it.  I used the Google Maps program to run along the coast line of Cape Town South Africa.  Its make running pretty interesting to see everything as you go and also have it adjust the incline based on how the terrain is going.  The machine works great and is very comfortable.  I ran for 30 minutes and for someone who has had ACL replacement my knee felt fine.

There is still lots that i need to work on with this but here are some items I don’t really like at this point.

• The fans are positioned at waist level so you have to point them straight up to actually feel it above your waist.
• Haven’t seen a way to install any other Android Apps it seems like they modified the Android software just for this treadmill.
• Need a lot of ceiling height, my gym is in my basement so ceiling is 8 1/2 feet but I think if your tall you really need 10+ to get on the 40% incline

So far I am really enjoying the treadmill I will write more about it once i use it for a few more weeks.

Continue reading »]]> This was my first trip to Pubcon and was very excited after hearing many industry people say this is the conference to go to.  Only to be let down by Las Vegas PubCon 2011.  I think out of the entire time there I got a couple good tools and a few tips surely not worth the money I paid to travel and attend.  The expo hall or lack there of was dismal and very uninteresting.  I think if it wasn’t for Matt Cutts Speaking it would have been a complete waste.  I am not sure what happened or if maybe there was a big issue with PubCon this year but the floor plan showed over 100 vendor booths of which I think there were 30 exhibitors.

I was always told that PubCon was a very advanced conference and if it is I guess that makes me a genius in SEO/SEM.  It honestly felt like the conferences were geared toward someone who setup there website a few days ago.  Or maybe you need to be stuck on an island for about a year and this would help you catch up on what is going on in the industry.  I am confused and annoyed that I wasted my time.  I guess having the conference in Las Vegas helps ease the annoyance cause if this conference was in Iowa I think i would be rioting or starting OccupyPubCon.

Hopefully this was just one bad year and it was my luck I picked this year to go but I can’t say I would waste my money going to PubCon again.

Continue reading »]]> I have been using wordpres and creating wordpress sites for customers for over 4 years.  What I love about wordpress is if you need it to do something someone has already made it, most of the time.  As much as I love WordPress there are some things that are needed right off the bat because its just so slow.  Pulling so much form the MySQL Database it just needs some help.  So my first plugin I want to talk about is

WP-Super Cache - Great plugin and very easy to use.  Basically it allows the system to cache the pages on the hard drive so the DB doesn’t have to be called everytime your page loads.  Yes your pages will be dealyed if you update something but trust me as your site gets traffic its a must have.

WP Minify - Another easy plugin just install and activate.  This plugin takes the javascript and combines them so the page loads a single file.  As well it reduces the size of your javascript.  Good program to install.

Now that your WordPress site is getting speed and traffic you need to optimize it for the general public that is searching.

All in One SEO Pack - I don’t even remember how long I have been using this WordPress Plugin. but its a great tool.  Right out of the box just installing it will improve your SEO ability.  If you know a little or a lot it will also help you improve your SEO with optimizing pages and posts

Google XML Sitemap - Now that your pages are optimized the best way to let Google know about your pages is to Create an XML Sitemap.  Sitemaps are impossible to manage manually so its critical to have something that automates things.

Breadcrumb NavXT - This plugin creates a great navigation for people to navigate your site.  It puts below your site menu something like Home > Category 1 > New Page 1 this is also a good idea for SEO.

The last WordPress Plugin I am going to share is

Admin Menu Tree Page View - For sites that have many pages like a site I just got done it makes life easy to manage multiple pages and keep things organized as well to add new pages.

Continue reading »]]> Just got these as a bundle on Amazon.com.  The purchased saved me about $30 rather than heading down to the local Staples or Best Buy.  With the New Sony Z Series Laptop I wanted to have a seperate keyboard and mouse when I am in the office and using the Dual Monitors.

My first impression of the keyboard was it was ackward to use however i found that to be more because I am not accustom to the side keypad.  Now that I have used it more I am getting better at using it and knowing where the keys are.  This keyboard comes with many shortcut keys which I just started using today.  Still not using all of them but over time I will start to use them. Overall Logitech built a good keyboard.  I think if the keys had a shorter depression I would like it better and allow me to type faster.  The Sony Laptop has a very short depression so between the two keyboard its hard to get an use to switching back and forth.

I love the Logitech MK705 Mouse easy to use and very comfortable.  The scroll wheel on the top is great to get down a long page or Word Document.  There are some back and forward buttons which I have used yet but over all the Mouse is my favorite out of this purchase.

Overall I am happy with the selection I don’t think I have ever had a bad purchase with Logitech

Continue reading »]]> Recently I went shopping for a new keyboard and mouse to go with my Sony Z Series Laptop.  I found that Amazon had the best deal on the keyboard and the keyboard tray.  While checking out they offered me there Prime membership which gets you Free 2 day shipping and $3.99 for overnight shipping.  To me this is great because I don’t care so much for driving around trying to find what I want.  So to order online and be able to get the product in 2 days is great.  The Prime Membership does cost $79 a year but another great option is you can add up to 4 family members to your account so they also can enjoy the discount shipping.

I know $79 sounds like a lot but in one order my shipping for Ground not even 2 day was going to be $20 so I figure within 3-4 more orders I will have it paid for an saving money on it.  Holiday’s are right around the corner and I think I am going to plan on doing most of my Christmas shopping online this year

Continue reading »]]> With the new Z series it claims to allow 3 external monitors.  I wasn’t sure how this would work when I purchased the Sony Z Series Laptop.  Now that I have it I understand how they are doing it.  There is an HDMI port and a VGA Port on the laptop as well a second HDMI port on the laptop.  To run 3 monitors you have to plug into each of those ports.  The 2 ports on the Power Media base I can understand as you won’t have to unplug but the one on the laptop I think will get annoying as every time I take my laptop with me I would have to unplug the Power Media dock and the HDMI cable.  I have it currently setup to run 2 monitors so that I don’t have to unplug anything extra.  Right now my monitors are limited and can’t do the full 1900×1080 HD.  However for what I need it for its really not needed and works well.

I am now looking for a good wireless keyboard and mouse to attach so I don’t have to use the laptop keyboard and mouse.  Also looking for a nice keyboard tray.
